A supermarket is offering guests a taste of the royal wedding with a £7 imitation cake.

Morrisons Gravesend has created the budget bake with a £25 bouquet to match Meghan Markle's.

London-based pastry chef Claire Ptak is in charge of this Saturday's official cake, which is expected to cost thousands.

Morrisions' version will be baked fresh in its Coldharbour Road store up until Sunday.

It will be made with three ten inch layers of sponge, with lemon curd and whipped British cream flavoured with elderflower.

The sides of the cake will be decorated with white chocolate curls and topped with pink rose petals.

Florists will also create their own version of Meghan's bouquet using pink peonies, snapdragons and large white avalanche roses.

London-based florist Philippa Craddock has been chosen to compile the genuine wedding flowers, and Kensington Palace has said they will include peonies, foxgloves and white garden roses.

Pink peonies are said to be the favourite flower of the bride-to-be.

Howard Saxby, store manager at Morrisons Gravesend said: "Customers who weren’t lucky enough to get an invite but want to take part in the celebrations, will still be able to enjoy a cake fit for a prince and princess.

"Meghan has chosen some stunning flowers, so we wanted our customers to enjoy our own version of her bouquet."

The cake will be available from the store's cake store counter, and the bouquet can be purchased from Morrions' FlowerWorld selection.

Both will be sold until Sunday.
