A suspected burglar was found hiding in a shop after a hole was discovered in the business' ceiling.

Police were called to a Gravesend store in Milton Road where the victim reported having items stolen.

Officers attended the scene on Tuesday and a suspect, who was found inside the premises behind a door was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Haidau Benone, 50, of King Street, Gravesend, has been charged with one count of burglary.

He was bailed upon charge and is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 7.
