Young man and woman in custody on suspicion of burglary after a car chase in Swanley

Two teenagers are in police custody on suspicion of burglary after a car chase.

Officers in an unmarked police car attempted to stop a Renault Clio in Birchwood Road at 8.50pm on Monday.

However, the vehicle failed to stop.

A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Police chased the car towards Swanley, it turned left onto the B2173 London Road, through Hockenden Lane, Sheepcote Lane, Crockenhill Road and then Sweeps Lane.

The Clio was brought to a controlled stop in Okemore Gardens.

A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both from Orpington, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a vehicle.

They remain in police custody while the investigation is ongoing.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who saw a red Renault Clio being driven in the Swanley area.
