Drivers faced delays on the A2 following a car fire.

Traffic was held on the coastbound carriageway at the junction for Gravesend East, near the Inn on the Lake Hotel.

Firefighters put out the blaze, and the road has now reopened.

Kent Police spokesman, Martin Very, said: "Police were notified at 3.25pm that a car was on fire on the coastbound carriageway of the A2 near Gravesend.

"Highways officers and the Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and traffic was stopped while the fire was extinguished.

"The carriageway was reopened at 4.03pm."
