Person dies after being hit by train between Strood and Gravesend

A person has died after being hit by a train.
Emergency services were called at around 9.30am this morning after the incident, which happened between Dartford, Ebbsfleet International and Strood.
Services were unable to travel between Gravesend and Strood and are subject to delays, alterations and cancellations. Other Medway stations were also affected.
Train were disrupted between London St Pancras International and Faversham/Ramsgate via Gravesend, London Charing Cross and Gravesend via Sidcup and London Victoria and Gravesend via Bexleyheath.
Paramedics were called to assist alongside other emergency services.
Those waiting on a train that is delayed between stations were asked to remain where they were and listen to announcements, or speak to staff for further information.
On its website, Southeastern said: “Please don't leave the train unless you are asked to do so.
“Other trains may still be moving in the area, and the track is also a very hazardous environment.
“In areas where the trains are powered by an electric third rail, this usually stays live and dangerous during incidents, and looks the same as other rails.”

The line reopened at around 1pm, with trains now running normally.
British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Gravesend railway station at 9.29am today to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
