Labour has announced its prospective parliamentary candidate for Gravesham - who has predicted we’ll be heading for the polls soon.

Dr Lauren Sullivan, who already represents Gravesham on Kent County Council, has been announced by the party to fight for the MP spot at the next general election - which she thinks will take place this year.

Cllr Sullivan said: “I am honoured to have be given this opportunity by the Gravesham Labour Party to seek to represent the people of Gravesham, as a local resident, at Westminster.

“I was motivated to get involved in my community because ultimately I care and I believe that we can be better and do better as a society to tackle some of these fundamental issues.

“During my time as a local councillor in Gravesham, I have seen first hand through my casework about the issues that people have faced and I am passionate to work together in partnership with people so that we deal with these issues and pass our society on to the next generation in a better position.

“Everyone has a stake in Gravesham and this world so we need to find a way forward that is fair and serves everyone.”

She added: “With Boris as the Prime Minister and leader of a disunited Conservative parliamentary group and the complete deadlock of Brexit, there needs to be an election this year.”

“I will work hard to earn the trust of the people of Gravesham and speak out on the issues that affect us here, such as public services, access to healthcare, homelessness and getting better opportunities for our young people and all people to thrive.”
