Family charity ellenor have paid tribute to the late Sir Terry Wogan, who died over the weekend after a short battle with cancer.

Sir Terry met with staff and patients from the Gravesend based charity during a book signing at Bluewater a few years ago, where they thanked him for his support of ellenor through his work with Children in Need.

Among those who met the legendary broadcaster were patient Georgie, counsellor Sue Wharton, and the charity's head of community Linda Trew.

When Sir Terry met ellenor.

Linda said: “He’d mentioned on air that week that he’d broken his mug – so I presented him with a new one, hand-painted by one of our young patients and he was delighted with it."

So delighted was Sir Terry, he used his next radio show to publicly thank ellenor for the new mug and mentioned how much he enjoyed his meeting with Georgie.

Linda continued: “Our thoughts at this time are with Sir Terry’s family and friends.

“He really was a national treasure and will be greatly missed."
