THE body of a woman in her 40s was found in her car in a country lane early today.

Police were called to Queen's Farm Road at Shorne, near Gravesend, at about 7.30am after a passer-by noticed the woman slumped in the front seat of a red Peugeot saloon. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

DI Simon Thompson, of Kent Police, said it appeared to be a suicide. He added: "We believe she had died some hours before. We are not looking for anybody in connection with this incident."

A post mortem will be held in the next few days.
