For over four years, Angela’s Swim School has been teaching safe swimming lessons to a number of communities around North Kent.
Locally training takes place at Cecil Road Primary, Saint Joseph’s Preparatory and Cobham Hall.
With 20 employees, manager Janice Hutton maintains they are in a fortunate industry offering the chance to instil a love of swimming and lifesaving skills which offer countless health benefits for all ages.
Janice said: “As a leader I hope that each person who works for me feels valued and can feel what an important piece they play in our swim school puzzle.
“Last year when we tragically lost one of our teachers, was another reminder for me of the huge effect each teacher, coach and mentor can have on a child and family.
“It is not a 30 minute weekly swimming lesson that families sign up for. It is the confidence, character building, positivity, dedication and determination that we have the chance to instil through our swimming lessons.
"It is this lesson that I hope I have successfully passed on to my teaching team this year.”
The lessons have enabled swimmers to take part in a number of charitable fundraisers. In the past the school has donated money to The Lady Taverners Play Space Appeal as well as Scope.
Last year the main fundraising event was to raise money for the children and wife of the swim teacher who passed away.
This year’s sponsors are: University of Greenwich, Barnes Roffe, Handleshanken, KM Media Group, Kuflink, Gravesham council, Rise Communications, Hatten Wyatt, Caxtons, Partnership Invoice Finance, GK Coffee Group (Starbucks), and SoftForge.
