Drivers were forced to turn around or negotiate a pile of dumped waste after flytippers left a road nearly impassable this morning.
Dover Road in Gravesend was left blocked after flytippers dumped rubbish between 6am and 6.45am.
Police were called just after 7am and officers stood guard at the scene until Kent Highways officers were able to clear the road.
The incident caused fury among some drivers who said they had to take a different route or plough through the waste.
Others feared it could have caused an accident - with the rubbish having been dumped near a bend in the road.
Kent Police said the road was cleared by 9.40am.
