Man alleged to have hit a dog outside Costcutter in Gravesend

The RSPCA is appealing for help in identifying a man allegedly seen slapping and kicking a dog outside a convenience shop.

The incident is said to have occurred at approximately 11am on Tuesday, December 27 - the Bank Holiday - outside the Costcutter store on Whitehill Road, Gravesend.

The man is said to have held the dog’s lead before slapping it around the head and face several times and then kicking it in the side.

The alleged offender is described as wearing dark trousers, a large dark coat with a fur trim around the hood and a white circular logo on the left arm, along with a black beanie-style hat.

He was also wearing distinctive black and orange trainers.

The dog appeared to be a large male, black or dark-brown labrador or mastiff cross-breed type.

The RSPCA have video footage of the incident which they are not releasing at present.

Inspector Kirsten Ormerod is appealing to anyone with information to contact her as soon as possible.

Inspector Ormerod said: “The footage is shocking and I’m keen to speak to the person involved.
