A woman was said to have screamed after an alleged sex assault in her own car in a car park in Gravesend.
Police were called to Stuart Road after reports a man had approached a woman in a car park and sexually assaulted her.
The victim was in her car speaking to a friend on the phone when she said the suspect first approached her and asked for the time.
The woman showed him her phone so he could see the time and he walked off in the direction of the river.
When she later finished the call she told police she noticed the man open the passenger seat and get in the car.
The man told the victim that he didn’t want her handbag, which was on the seat, before grabbing her hand and trying to make her perform a sex act on him.
When she resisted he then sexually assaulted her.
The victim screamed for him to leave her alone and he quickly got out of the car and headed in the direction of Bligh Road.
Investigating officer, PC Dave Smith said: “This was a disturbing incident in which the suspect enters the victim’s car, which I have no doubt would have been alarming in itself, before sexually assaulting her.
“This man approaches the car twice; once to ask the time and then a few moments later to enter the car.
“I’m appealing to anyone who might have witnessed the incident or has any information to contact me.
The suspect has been described as an Asian man, between 45-50 years old, about 5ft 8ins tall, large build and short black hair. He was wearing a navy hooded top and dark bottoms.
The incident happened at 5.45pm on November 7. If anyone has any information, call PC Smith on 01474 366104 quoting reference XY/35964/13. Alternatively contact Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
