Part of a Kent town centre was sealed off after what police describe as a serious assault on Saturday night.

The police cordon in a section of New Road, Gravesend, was set up after the incident on Saturday night. Forensic officers were at the scene on Sunday.

Officers say the victim - a 55-year-old local man - is in a serious condition in hospital in London.

No other details have yet been released and the cordon has now been removed.
