Two men reportedly burst into a home in Gravesend wielding a gun and a knife before stealing a mobile phone and cash.
The victims, a man and a woman, are said to have opened the door of a property in Bernard Street after hearing a knock.
The two suspects reportedly then forced their way inside, a police spokesman said.
Officers went to the home and are now investigating a possible aggravated burglary, which took place between 2am and 3.20am on Sunday.
One of the men is alleged to have had a gun and the other a knife.
One suspect has been described as black, over 6ft tall, and of athletic build. He was aged in his twenties and was wearing a green jacket with a furry hood, which was pulled tight covering most of his face.
The second suspect is described as white but tanned, around 5ft 4ins, mid-twenties with bushy eyebrows and wearing a navy tracksuit with an eastern European accent.
No arrests have been made and no injuries were reported.
Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident, the spokesman added.
