Armed police descended on a cafe this afternoon and arrested a diner.
Firearms officers were spotted waiting outside Perry Cafe, on Perry Street, at around 1pm.
A 37-year-old man who had been inside with a teenage girl thought to be a relative was then arrested as he left.
Police left the street soon after.
A local business owner, who did not wish to be named, said there were undercover officers to the left and right of the cafe, with more stationed up the road near Tesco.
He added: "A Range Rover turned up with three police cars. There was a bloke and a teenage girl. They told him he was being arrested on suspicion of affray and asked him about a hire car he had."
Police spokesman James Walker said: "Officers were called to a disturbance at a private address in the Singlewell Road area of Gravesend, at 11.45am.
"A man was reported to have made threats to a woman and it was reported that he may be in possession of a weapon.
"Armed police were deployed as a precaution and they attended Perry Street, where a 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
"No weapon has been recovered and he remains in custody as enquiries continue."
