Armed police called to Louvain Road, Greenhithe, and search train at Gravesend station after assault and weapon threat

Armed police stormed a residential street and searched a train after a man was hurt in an incident involving a group of people - one of whom reportedly made threats with a gun.

Firearms officers descended on Louvain Road, Greenhithe just before 6pm yesterday, following reports of a "disturbance" involving several suspects.

A man was assaulted and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, but police have not released any more details about the nature of the attack.

Armed teams were deployed after it was reported one of the men involved had made threats with a firearm, and a search of the area involving the police helicopter took place.

As part of the hunt, a train was also stopped and searched at Gravesend station.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A police spokesman added: "There is not believed to be a wider risk to the public."
