Arrest after woman hit by e-scooter near McDonald’s in Stone Street, Gravesend

A man has been arrested after a woman had to be taken to hospital after being hit by an e-scooter.

Police and paramedics were called to Gravesend town centre yesterday (May 4) to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and rider.

Stone Road was closed to traffic near the McDonald’s just before 1pm while the woman was treated for injuries. She was then taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.

The rider of the electric scooter had left before patrols arrived.

Later the same day a local man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, dangerous driving, disqualified driving and driving without insurance.

He was bailed to return to the police pending further investigation.
