Music legends of the 90s helped bring star quality to a town’s Christmas lights switch-on today.
Garage favourites Artful Dodger headlined the festivities in Gravesend town centre with an hour-long show by MC Alistair and DJ Dave Low.
Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Daniel Adewale King, joined them on stage and danced along to some of their biggest hits.
There was plenty going on at the music stage on the junction of New Road, High Street and Windmill Street, where acts included Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Harrison Pettman.
The afternoon started with a performance from Gifted Young Gravesham’s choir and other acts included Calli Malpas and Murph-Finn.
There were also stilt walkers, Christmas characters and an Arctic adventure show.
For the switch-on countdown itself, at 5pm, the mayor was joined by the cast of Jack and The Beanstalk, this year’s panto at The Woodville Halls.
The Chase star Mark “the Beast” Labbett was among those on stage.
The show was hosted by radio presenter Hara Kassam.
