A BOY of 12 who terrorised communities for more than two years has been hit with an anti social behaviour.

Daniel McNamara of Old Road East, Gravesend, has had regular run-ins with police and has a string of convictions to his name. He is the youngest person in North Kent to be given an ASBO.

One officer described McNamara as being "persistently in trouble, causing a great deal of suffering and severely impacting on the quality of life of many".

The five-year ASBO granted on May 11 was obtained on two years of evidence gathering by residents and police officers.

His ASBO includes a string of clauses which, if breached, could mean up to five years imprisonment.

McNamara mainly caused trouble in the Old Road East, Jubilee Crescent, Hampton Crescent, Silver Road and Westcourt School areas.

But PC Alan Thornley said: "His reign of terror spanned much further than that."

McNamara robbed, assaulted, got drunk, threw stones, eggs and bottles, tormented people including those with mental health problems, caused vandalism, damaged cars, verbally abused people and made a general disturbance.

PC Thornley said: "Since the age of 10, McNamara caused an awful lot of trouble. Although other avenues were looked at, this was our only way of trying to improve the welfare of local people and those in the wider community."

Sgt Adrian Payne of the North Kent Crime Reduction Unit added: "North Kent police are committed to targeting those individuals that take pleasure in causing misery to others, so we are pleased that the court has supported this matter."
