DETECTIVES are investigating the death of a 36-year-old man who was beaten up in his home.
Ted Shaxted, who came from of Wallis Park, Northfleet, was on a life support machine at Dartford's Darent Valley Hospital following the attack on Sunday, December 2, but died last Sunday night.
Following a post mortem held on Tuesday, police announced they were treating his death as murder as they believe he died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the attack.
The assault happened at Mr Shaxted’s flat. A neighbour found him seriously injured and called the police.
In a statement, members of Mr Shaxted's family said: "Ted was a kind, caring man and his untimely death is a huge loss to the whole family.
“We would urge anyone who has any information which would help police with this investigation, to come forward.”
Det Insp Ian Dampier, of Gravesend Police, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the Wallis Park area on the evening of Sunday, December 2, who may have seen anything or anyone who may have any information that would assist this investigation."
