Pop star turned presenter Peter Andre surprised a mum-of-three with a 60 Minute Makeover as a thank-you for always putting others first.
Angie Franco’s husband Rossi managed to keep the Australian celebrity’s visit a secret for “a couple of months” and got his wife out of the house in Alexandra Road, Denton, while the work was being done by sending her on a relaxing spa break.
It was all part of the television show Peter presents, where homes are transformed in an hour.
Angie, 39, was nominated for the show by her best friend Kate Bruns and on Sunday Peter and his team transformed the couple’s bedroom and living room.
Rossi, 44, revealed his wife got quite emotional when she arrived for the big reveal on Sunday.
He said: “Angie was ecstatic, really. It was a bit of an emotional day for her.
“What they did was really nice. They brought furniture in and decorated the rooms. The bedroom is sort of shabby chic and the living room is contemporary. You do have an input but they have their own designers, so it’s not exactly as you say.”
He revealed the family had been “living in a building site” for more than three years as they gradually renovated the home they have lived in for more than a decade.
Angie, who manages a nursery in Gravesend, was nominated after raising thousands of pounds for the family of a disabled youngster so they could buy her a specially adapted car seat and other life-changing equipment.
She has also organised activities and trips for youngsters through her membership of a school’s parent and teacher association. Her proud husband added: “She always does everything for other people.”
The couple were impressed with Mysterious Girl singer Peter, with Rossi describing him as “a really nice guy”.
He said: “He was no different to any of us really, he’s just got a bit of a celebrity status. He’s a normal human being and a family man who has a lot of time for others.”
This is not the first time Peter has visited Kent this summer. Last month he travelled to Gillingham and performed a makeover for Army Sergeant Andy Smith to thank him for helping youngsters who have not had the best start in life.
Yesterday he was spotted giving a home in Sittingbourne a 60 Minute Makeover.
