POLICE are seeking witnesses to a brutal assault in which the owner of a takeaway was attacked with a baseball bat.
The incident happened after a teenager was reprimanded for causing trouble outside the Chinese takeaway and is thought to have returned with his parents to beat up 40-year-old Simon Ly.
He was repeatedly clubbed with the weapon inside the takeaway, The Lucky Dragon, in Rochester Road, Gravesend. He was taken to hospital after the assault. Windows at the premises were smashed.
Jack Cheung, 19, who works part time in the takeaway, witnessed the attack on his uncle. He said a teenager had been causing trouble outside the eaterie.
The teenager ran off but later returned with an older man and woman, thought to be his parents, and the attack took place. Mr Cheung said his uncle was not seriously injured but he was left badly shaken.
CCTV footage of the attack, on Bank Holiday Monday, is being scanned by police. Witnesses are being urged to call North Kent Police on 01474 565167 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
