Two raiders are being hunted today after a Gravesend petrol station was robbed and a man's car stolen as a getaway vehicle in a violent carjacking.
The pair targeted the BP garage shop, at the Clocktower services off Milton Road, at about 11.15pm yesterday.
After leaping over the counter, the first offender assaulted the cashier and demanded she open the till.
The men then grabbed cash before fleeing across the forecourt onto Peacock Street.
They came across a man parking his car - a dark blue Rover - before punching and kicking him as they stole the vehicle.
Detectives have now released CCTV images of two men they believed would be able to help them with their inquiries.
The first offender is described as black, stocky, around 5ft 7ins and in his 40s.
He wore a grey hooded top over a white top, blue jeans, dark shoes and a blue baseball cap.
Police said the second offender is described as white, about 6ft, also in his 40s and with "dirty blond" hair.
DC Richard Debnam, from Kent Police, said: "These were two distressing incidents that took place within seconds of each other.
"The man who had his car stolen was taken to hospital with facial injuries and the cashier has been left upset and anxious after her ordeal.
"I know both men in the images have their faces obscured but the pictures may still be able to jog people's memories."
He added: "I am asking anybody who thinks they may have witnessed the incident, who recognises the men in the images or who may hold any information on this job at all to call me as soon as possible on 01474 366096, quoting crime reference XY/035623/13.
