Fleet's unbeaten record away from home came to an end with a 4-2 defeat at Blue Square Bet South leaders Braintree on Monday afternoon.
Liam Daish's (pictured) side suffered their first defeat in 12 games after a convincing display from the hosts at Cressing Road.
Fleet were behind within three minutes after Preston Edwards conceded a penalty which was converted by former Fleet loanee Jamie Guy.
Tom Phipp levelled for the visitors within four minutes but the hosts responded with two goals before the break. the first a long-range effort from former Fleet triallist Jai Reason on 34 minutes before Dave Bryant lobbed Edwards to make it 3-1 two minutes before half-time.
Braintree - who included other former Fleet players Phil Starkey, Scott Shulton and Ryan Peters in their side - made it four with another long-range goal, this time from Nicky Symons, shortly after the restart, but Paul Lorraine did reduce the deficit late-on with his third goal of the season.
