Gravesend is expected to have a new budget hotel by the beginning of next year.

Work is well under way on a Travelodge being built off Coldharbour Road, next to the Toby Carvery restaurant.

A spokesman for the chain confirmed this week the hotel will have 61 rooms and is expected to be finished in early 2018.

The closest Travelodge to the town is currently in Charles Street, off Crossways Boulevard, Dartford.
