A 50-year-old bus driver had his leg badly broken after being attacked when he went to help a colleague in Gravesend on Saturday.

The incident happened at about 5pm outside the Railway Bell pub in Garrick Street.

It is being investigated as a grievous bodily harm and police in north Kent are appealing for information.

The victim was attacked after going to the aid of a colleague who was being harassed by two young men.

One of the offenders was described as white, aged 19 to 25, 6ft 2in tall and skinny with brown spiky hair. He was wearing a white hooded top with a light blue "V" logo on the front. He was with a second man of the same age who was shorter that his friend, slim and had short straight brown hair. He was wearing a dark top over a white shirt. Police would also like to identify two females who were with them at the time.

Detective Constable Richard Dorey is leading the investigation. He said: "The area would have been very busy at the time of this assault and I would urge anyone who either witnessed it or has information to get in touch."
