Busy overnight for firefighters

There were delays on the A2 at Gravesend this morning following a crash between a car and a lorry.

The HGV collided with the car of the third lane of the road at about 5.50am this morning near junction one.

Firefighters were on their way back to Dartford when the incident happened in front of them.

They administered first aid until ambulance crews arrived and police closed the road off for about 20 minutes.

The incident caused a knock-on effect leaving many commuters delayed.

The crew had been travelling back from Gravesend where they assisted Thames-side and Strood in Parrock Street.

Crews were called when a fire broke out in an electrical cupboard in the communal hallway of Homemead Court.

It happened at about 2.45am and there were no injuries.

Firefighters stopped the flames from spreading from the cupboard.
