A lorry driver revealed he pulled an injured woman from her overturned car after a crash on the A2.
Peter Urquhart, together with the help of another driver, known only as Alex, administered first aid.
It is believed she was bleeding heavily from an arm injury caused in the accident and was taken to a London hospital by air ambulance.
Mr Urquhart said: “I was the driver of a Morrisons petrol tanker, on my way to Strood to make a delivery, a couple of hundred metres behind.
“I, along with others, rushed to help, and myself and a guy named Alex managed to free her [the driver] from the car and get her out.
“We administered first aid to stop the bleeding as best we could until emergency services arrived.
“The injured lady was conscious all the time we were helping out but had a very bad right lower arm injury.”
It is believed the crash involved five vehicles and traffic was at a standstill on the A2 coastbound near the turn-off for Ebbsfleet station.
The accident took place at about 3.45pm yesterday and caused tailbacks to the Darenth Interchange (Junction 2) of the M25.
Fire crews, police and two ambulances and an air ambulance was also seen at the location of the incident.
Another driver, Richard Cooper, also witnessed the aftermath of the crash and he said 20 drivers rushed to help the victim.
He said: "I drove past and one person was on the ground with legs covered in blood. I didn't see the injuries.
"Five cars appeared to be involved and the main car was on its roof with the person with blood on their legs lying parallel next to it.
"About 20 people ran out of their cars to assist. Ambulances were on the scene within five minutes."
A police spokeswoman said the woman was in a stable condition.
She said: "It was reported that a car had overturned. The coastbound carriageway was closed but all lanes were fully open at around 5.40pm.
"The Londonbound carriageway at Pepper Hill was briefly closed while the air ambulance landed and took off."
The crash came after a similar pile-up near the same location on Tuesday just after 4.45pm.
A four-car collision, again on the coastbound carriageway, left up to six people injured including at least one child.
However, none were reported to have serious injuries and did not need hospital treatment.
Lanes were closed while police officers dealt with a fuel spillage and removing the damaged vehicles.
