Car thief suspects charged after vehicles reported stolen from Gravesend, Rochester, Higham, Dartford and Swanley

A group of suspected car thieves have been charged after 18 vehicles were reported stolen across the county.

The incidents took place in north Kent between December and February and four people will now appear in court accused of taking vehicles.

The cars reported stolen included Ford Fiestas, Range Rovers and Jaguars from several addresses in Gravesend, Rochester, Higham, Dartford and Swanley either in the day or early evening.

Officers investigating the reports from owners linked the various incidents and arrested four suspects.

They have since been charged with conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle.

Riley Scamp, 28, of Horsford Walk, Faversham and Abbey Caller, 23, of Saltun Close, Gravesend have been charged along with a 17-year-old boy from Gravesend and another boy, aged 16, from Swanscombe.

All four defendants appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Scamp and Caller have been remanded in custody until their next appearance at Woolwich Crown Court on April 1.

The two teenagers have been released on conditional bail to appear at the same time as their co-defendants.
