Appeal for CCTV footage after mutilated cat found in Bazes Shaw area of New Ash Green

An animal welfare organisation is appealing for CCTV to help uncover what happened to a cat found dead with “human-related mutilations”.

The South London Animal Investigation Network is calling on households in the New Ash Green area to check their CCTV from around 8am on August 30 to 6pm on September 3 after a cat went missing and was found mutilated three days later.

The organisation said a vet has described the injuries as “human-related mutilations” and has ruled out car accidents or another animal as the cause.

It is also appealing for witnesses who may have seen a man on August 15 in New Ash Green, from Chapel Wood Road across to Bazes Shaw and down to the bottom of Ash Road.

He is described as middle aged, white, stockily built or dressed in a way that gives that impression and walks with a very slight favouring of one leg.

It said he had mostly been seen at night, dressed in dark clothing and wearing a head torch.

The network is also looking for CCTV of a white car, possibly a Toyota Prius or Hyundai Ioniq driving up and down during that time period.

It also wants to hear from anyone whose property has been damaged between those dates, including damage to fences or who has had their garden furniture moved.

The appeal comes after cats were found with the same mutilations as the one in New Ash Green and were also deposited three days after they went missing in Erith, Swanley and Crayford last month.
