A child was handed in to police overnight after being found on their own on a busy road in the early hours.
The youngster was taken to North Kent police station after being spotted in Dover Road East, Northfleet at around 1.30am.
A police spokesman said the child's parents were promptly located and have spoken with officers.
A statement continued: "At present there is no evidence of any criminal offences being committed and no arrests have been made.
"Officers are liaising with social services, as is standard procedure.
"The child was unharmed."
