The Old Town Hall will welcome the return of cinema to Gravesend next week with the introduction of a new monthly film night.
It launches next Thursday (July 26) and will feature a mix of classic, alternative and contemporary films. It starts with a film noir double bill with a local twist.
The Long Memory, starring John Mills and directed by Robert Harmer and filmed in Gravesend, tells the story of a wrongly imprisoned man seeking revenge on his release.
Filmed in 1952, it also stars John McCallum, Elizabeth Sellars and Eva Bergh.
The film will be followed by a screening of Quentin Tarantino’s classic Pulp Fiction from 1994. It features an all-star cast including John Travolta. Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Christopher Walken and Bruce Willis.
Since closing in 2002, the Majestic Cinema in King Street has stood unused. It was gutted by fire in January 2006.
It is hoped the new regular night will prove to be popular to those who don’t want to travel all the way to Bluewater.
Doors open at 6pm and the first film starts at 7pm, followed by Pulp Fiction at 9pm.
Tickets are £10, book by calling 01474 550023 or by calling in to Gravesend Old Town Hall on the High Street.
