Gravesend golfer Claire Aitken headed to Spain this week looking to retain her European Tour playing card for 2010.

The 23-year-old, who is attached to Mid-Kent Golf Club, finished this year’s schedule 130th in the Order of Merit and will be in action at Final Qualifying at La Manga on Thursday.

Played over four consecutive rounds, there will be a cut after 54 holes. The leading 50 players (and ties) will then resume the fight for the top 30 places which will earn 2010 cards.

The new season starts in New Zealand in February.
