Developers will be hoping "Flatty McFlatface" isn't the only suggestion, after asking people to name a new block of apartments in Gravesend.
Churchill Retirement Living is calling for suggestions to name the new retirement complex of 75 apartments, set to be built on the former Gravesend police station site after plans were approved by Gravesham council.
The Windmill Street site has been vacant for more than a decade since the £30 million North Kent Police headquarters opened in 2008 and the old police building was demolished in 2016.
Now aiming to press ahead with construction, Churchill is offering residents the chance to put their stamp on the development of one and two-bedroom apartments – with £100 being offered for the winning name.
The company says the new privately-owned apartments will provide "attractive, energy-efficient, secure and self-contained independent living accommodation in landscaped grounds, with local shops and amenities close at hand".
Buyers will also have the benefit of a communal owners’ lounge, a guest suite, a lodge manager, and a 24-hour emergency call alarm service.
Churchill’s senior regional marketing manager Anne Scherrer said: “After achieving a successful planning permission, we’re delighted to be bringing our new development to Gravesend and have already seen lots of interest from local over 60s keen to discover the benefits of the independent retirement living lifestyle.
"Anyone interested in finding out more about the new development can register their interest now for updates, and be among the first to find out when the apartments will be released for sale.”
To enter the naming competition, send a suggested name and the reason for it along with your name, address and phone number to: Freepost, Churchill Retirement Living, or by email to anne.scherrer@crl.co.uk by Tuesday, February 28.
Entries should be marked Gravesend naming competition.
It seems unlikely that Gravesend will see a repeat of the national vote, in 2016, which saw the Natural Environment Research Council's new research vessel dubbed Boaty McBoatface.
Developers say Churchill Retirement Living development names always end in ‘Lodge’.
Lodgy McLodge is unlikely to win through either, as the chosen name is subject to approval by Gravesham council.
If more than one person suggests the winning name, the winner will be randomly selected.
