A man who spotted a “gorgeous” peacock chilling on his neighbour's doorstep is desperate to find someone who can help it back to its home.
Martin Jordan was pumping up his car tyres when he noticed the exotic bird prowling around Denton Court Road opposite St John’s Catholic Primary School in Gravesend.
He said: “It’s been in the area by Rochester Road since noon.
“I will pumping my car’s tyres and saw him wander onto my neighbour’s porch – they’re going to get a shock when they come out and see him!
“I’m worried about the poor little thing, especially as it gets dark early now.
“Lots of the school kids’s mums and dad park down here and I’m worried about it getting hurt or scared.”
Martin called the RSPB who told him to try to contact local manor houses who may have space to accomodate the feathery creature.
He also called 111 over fears of the peacock wandering in the road but was told it wasn’t a problem.
Martin is now going to work and unable to keep an eye on the bird and is yet to hear back from any of the wildlife organisations he contacted.
If you can help capture or look after the bird it was last seen in the Denton Court Road cul de sac just off Rochester Road opposite the primary school in Gravesend.
Martin added: “It’s gorgeous and big. It isn’t something you expect to be roaming around residential streets.”
