Construction is under-way on a new Lidl supermarket set to bring 40 new jobs to Gravesend.
Planning permission for the store in Coldharbour Road, Gravesend, was granted in January by Gravesham Borough Council and building work is expected to take seven months.
Lidl GB is working with construction firm STS Thermal Ltd with an aim to open in Autumn this year.
The new shop will be the second Lidl store in Gravesend and will feature a sales area of 1,325m², a bakery, customer toilet as well as parking for both bicycles and cars along with two electric vehicle charging spaces.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Adam Forsdick, commented: “There’s been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and it’s great that we are now in a position to break the ground and start construction. This will mark our second store for Gravesend, and we can’t wait to start serving our high quality, affordable produce to even more of the local area. We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we enter this next phase of the development.”
