A thousand elves are wanted by Gravesham council for a world record attempt to help every charity shop in Gravesend.
To take part in the event and qualify as an elf, all you need to do is register yourself and come along on Friday, November 22 at 1.30pm to the Community Square, outside the Civic Centre, Gravesend.
You’ll need to dress in red and green and the council will give you a free elf hat with ears.
The world record for the largest gathering of Santa’s Elves is currently held by Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, UK, they recorded 762 Elves in November 2012.
Already registered to take part in the world record attempt are Ebbsfleet United, Hatten Wyatt Solicitors, Pride Cleaning, AW Accounting, Network Rail, Spencer Rail, Southeastern, Wrotham Road School, Lawn Primary, Northfleet Girls, Thamesview and Little Gems Children Centre.
The council is calling all schools which have not yet responded to the appeal to take part to contact them as soon as possible.
But anyone can be an elf for the day – it’s not restricted to school children.
And if you need a little elf help with your costume, the charity shops in Gravesend have been collecting all their red and green items for you.
The event is part of the council’s Twelve Days of Christmas programme.
It is the third day (Three French Hens) representing the Faith, Hope and Charity theme and all the town’s charity shops will be putting on activities that day.
Other events in the Twelve Days of Christmas programme include a lantern parade and Christmas light switch on, led by illuminated snow birds representing a Partridge in a Pear Tree on November 15.
There will be performances by pipers in full Scottish regalia representing 11 pipers piping on December 20 and a staged drumming extravaganza on December 21 representing 12 drummers drumming.
You can register from tomorrow by clicking here.
