A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and being drunk behind the wheel after a crash in Gravesend.

The smash happened in Rochester Road, near the junction with Abbey Road at around 5.45pm yesterday.

Witnesses reported seeing a number of police officers at the scene.

A police spokesman said this morning: "A man is currently in police custody following a collision in Rochester Road, Gravesend at around 5.45pm on Monday, December 19.

"The 29-year-old was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit though drink.

"The man, who is from the Blackheath area, will be interviewed later today."
