Four vehicles were set alight in an arson attack on a residential street in the early hours.
Firefighters were called to Huntley Avenue, in Northfleet, at 4.50am, and residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke billowing from the blaze.
Two fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus put it out.
No casualties were reported and the blaze was out by 5.48am.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service says the blaze is believed to have been started deliberately.
Police also attended and are now appealing for information on the incident.
A statement from Kent Police said officers were investigating after several cars were set alight in Huntley Avenue.
They say a total of six vehicles were affected by the fire and officers are treating the fire as suspicious.
