Curry Mecca, in Gravesend, and Prince of India, in Faversham, win at Euro Asia Curry Awards

Two Indian restaurants have been crowned the best in the county.

Curry Mecca, in Gravesend, and Prince of India, in Faversham, both picked up accolades at this year’s Euro Asia Curry Awards.

Curry Mecca was named the Best Indian Restaurant in Kent
Curry Mecca was named the Best Indian Restaurant in Kent

The annual event recognises the top curry houses in the country and the hardworking people behind them.

Around 500 businesses were nominated and 50 winners were chosen nationally and regionally including Curry Mecca, in Parrock Street, Gravesend, which was named the top in the county.

A spokesman said in a statement: “Through your love and support and the hard work of our staff and chefs, Curry Mecca achieved the milestone of being the Best Indian Restaurant in Kent.

“We are grateful to everyone.”

The Prince of India was also recognised and won Best Newcomer Indian Restaurant in Kent and Businessman of the Year in Kent.

A spokesman for the eatery, in Preston Street, Faversham, said: “Thank you all for your support we could not be who we are without you all it has been a very special year for me and all credit goes to my team and my loyal customers and friends.”

The Euro Asia Awards, now in its seventh year, was founded by Bangladeshi chef, Shorif Kahn.
