Man appears in court after alleged attempted robbery in Canal Road, Gravesend

A suspect has appeared in court after a cyclist allegedly armed with a weapon threatened two people while demanding food.

Police were called to the alleged incident in Canal Road, Gravesend, which took place at around 2am on Thursday (December 12).

The cyclist reportedly threatened two people twice, once with a weapon.

Officers attended and a suspect was arrested. They also seized three knives, a toy gun and some cannabis.

Vairis Komarovskis, of no fixed address, was later charged on suspicion of two counts of attempted robbery, three counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place, possessing an imitation firearm in a public place and possession of cannabis.

The 23-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court the next day.

He was conditionally bailed to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on January 10.
