A music production master is debuting his brand new orchestral 80s show later this year.

80s Classical is a show bringing together the best of 80s hits with a full symphony orchestra.

The show has been put together by Cliff Masterson from Higham who has been working on it for two years. “This is the first show combining an orchestra with the original artists,” he said.

“We found a new way to bring the same songs to a new crowd and give it a new treatment.”

Cliff has been working in the music industry as a composer, conductor, song writer and arranger in for almost 20 years, which has seen him work with the likes of Il Divo, Robbie Williams, Little Mix, Emeli Sande and many more.

He went to St George’s school in Gravesend and went on to win Kent Young Composer, which secured him a place at the Royal Academy of Music.

His new show, 80’s Classical, will feature special guest vocalists and the orchestra of Open North, at Millennium Square in Leeds.

The show was put together with Steve Anderson, who is Kylie Minogue’s music director.

It will feature Jimmy Somerville from Bronski Beat, Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw, Johnny Hates Jazz and Carol Decker from T’Pau.

The 46 year old award-winning music producer has two kids, aged 18 and 15, the eldest of whom has followed in his dad’s musical footsteps by studying guitar.

“Their friends find it interesting that I do that work but because I have been around them all this time, they don’t so much!”

Cliff’s collaborator Steve Anderson said: “It is the most incredible honour to work with such iconic singers who have been pivotal in the soundtracks of so many people’s lives.

“And to be able to add an epic orchestral score on top of the richness and beauty of the existing electronic elements which everyone loves.”
