The woman was found on tracks at Gravesend station.

Trains through Gravesend are suffering delays this afternoon - after a woman was found walking along the tracks.

Kent Police scrambled a helicopter after reports she was on the line at just after 3.20pm.

The woman was detained by officers and was not injured.

Trains are delayed at Gravesend by about an hour and many are terminating at Ebbsfleet because of the trespasser.

It comes less than 24 hours after a young man was hit by a train at Gravesend.

Kent Police said officers were called to the station at about 3.20pm today.

A spokesman said: "A woman was on the railway tracks and the police helicopter attended to assist with the search.

"She has now been detained and the scene is clear."
