A TEENAGE thug repeatedly stabbed a terrified man, leaving him with life threatening injuries, and then defiantly asked: "Do I look bovvered?"

Ricky Blackwell, 15, of Albion Road, Gravesend, used the catchphrase of comic Catherine Tate’s impudent schoolgirl character Lauren Cooper after launching the attack on Anthony Hoare.

Blackwell, who already has a string of convictions to his young name, has been sentenced to five years detention with a three-year extended licence period.

A judge lifted an order previously banning identification of Blackwell because of his age, saying: "This was an appalling offence. The public are entitled to know about it."

Maidstone Crown Court heard that Blackwell was living with his mother Sharon Bannister and her partner Mr Hoare, 41, at their home in Gravesend when a row erupted in October last year.

Edward Connell, prosecuting, said Blackwell arrived home drunk, having downed about 10 beers and smoked cannabis.

A row ensued between Blackwell and his mother, and Mr Hoare stepped in. He was left in a pool of blood and gasping for breath after being stabbed with a kitchen knife.
