A mum-of-three pulled over by police smelling of weed claimed she'd been given a cannabis brownie without knowing it had the drug inside it.
Crystal Reynolds, 36, was stopped in a Ford Transit in Rathmore Road, Gravesend at about 9am on Monday, May 16.
When police gave her a drug test, she was found to have 8 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The legal limit is 2 micrograms.
Reynolds, of Lander Close, Gravesend, claimed she'd unwittingly been given the hash brownie at a barbecue she'd attended with friends at the weekend.
But when she was pulled over by police on the Monday morning she still smelt of weed, Medway Magistrates Court heard.
She was originally charged with drug-driving and not having an MOT but the latter offence was withdrawn.
She pleaded guilty to the drug-driving charge last Wednesday, September 28.
Prosecutor James Nichols said: "When she was stopped officers could smell cannabis on her and she was found to be over the limit. She's of previous good character."
The bench heard the mother-of-three, who is on Universal Credit, had been out with friends when she was offered the brownie.
Reynolds said she felt funny after eating it but had previously taken cannabis oil.
The court heard that not being able to drive due to the mandatory ban would have a devastating effect on her family.
Magistrates disqualified Reynolds from driving for 12 months and fined her £110. She was also ordered to pay a £44 victim surcharge.
