Drivers invited to help combat number plate theft

AN INITIATIVE is being put into place by Kent Police to help combat number plate theft.

Stolen plates allow criminals to clone other cars causing innocent motorists to incur speeding fines, congestion charges and other offences.

To combat this, police have discovered an effective way to deter thieves by the use of anti-tamper screws.

Drivers in north Kent are invited to a safer plates day in Waitrose car park, Station Road, Longfield this Saturday from 9am, where they obtain the anti-tamper screws free of charge.
