A convicted drug dealer was ordered to pay back thousands of pounds after an appearance at court.

Stephen Durbin, of Fleet Road, Northfleet, was told to pay back more than £7,000 that he gained from "ill-gotten gains".

Durbin is currently serving a sentence of six years and nine months after he pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply last year.

More than £75,000 worth of drugs was found in his loft.

The 34-year-old appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, January 31, where the judge told him to surrended £7,382, gained from his offending, within a month.

He was told a failure to do so would result in an additional four months in custody.

Detective Inspector Annie Clayton, from the Kent and Essex Crime Directorate, said: "Durbin may already be serving a significant custodial sentence but it would not be just if his ill-gotten gains were waiting for him when he is released from prison.

"The success of this order means he will not be able to further profit from his offending, instead the money will be invested into local policing.

"Criminals should be under no illusions; Kent Police will pursue all available lines and enquiry, and use ever power at its disposal, to ensure they are unable to profit from crime."
