WEB surfers in Ebbsfleet Valley homes will be the quickest in the UK thanks to lightning quick internet connections.

New properties at Springhead Park will be offered broadband download speeds of up to 100mb per second - more than four times the current highest speeds of 24mbps.

The service, which will eventually be available to all homes in Ebbsfleet Valley, comes via Fibre to the Home technology, which uses fibre-optic cabling. It carries much higher speeds than standard copper systems, for which speed depends on proximity to the telephone exchange.

A typical film, which usually takes about 20 minutes to download, will take just 47 seconds.

Springhead Park's 600-plus homes will be the first in a new development to receive the technology.

Katy Goodman, development manager for property firm Land Securities, said: "We've pioneered this to keep one step ahead of the technology trend. This level of service has never been seen in a residential building before and the residents of Springhead Park will get to experience the forefront of new technology."
