Ebbsfleet dropped back into the Blue Square Bet Premier bottom four after a 4-2 home defeat by Cambridge on Tuesday.
Fleet conceded in the first minute at Stonebridge Road when Tom Elliott struck.
Liam Enver-Marum, pictured, equalised from the edge of the area after 13 minutes and Matt Godden gave the hosts the lead with a header four minutes after the half-time break.
But two goals in two minutes midway through the second half from Elliott and Sam Smith put Cambridge back in front.
And the visitors clinched the points when Elliott completed his hat-trick 14 minutes from time, with Cambridge even having the luxury of striker Andy Pugh collecting a red card late on.
The defeat was Fleet's first in seven league matches.
