Two second-half goals from Stefan Bailey earned Ebbsfleet their second win in four days with a 2-1 victory over Stevenage in Blue Square Premier on Tuesday night.

But the odds looked stacked against Liam Daish’s side after they had been outplayed for the first 45 minutes by high-flying Stevenage.

The inevitable opening goal arrived after 21 minutes when Yemi Odubade’s shot from the edge of the box deflected off Gavin Heeroo’s and looped over keeper Lance Cronin.

The Fleet then did well to stem the tide but the second half produced a dramatic turnaround.

Daish replaced Michael West with Ishmael Welsh and within minutes of the restart, the Fleet were back on level terms. Magno Vieira fired in a shot which was parried by keeper Chris Day into the path of Bailey, who equalised.

Six minutes later, Fleet fans were in dreamland after Bailey struck again. Peter Holmes whipped in a free-kick, Day flapped at the ball and Bailey was on hand to
score.
